Mediums: Water Color, Ink and Graphite
Water Colors and drawing allow a wide range of type of artwork, both
detailed and loose. I enjoy doing both. My interests lie in the
automotive field and I also enjoy Southwestern landscapes and images
from the West as well as Midwestern scenes. Consequently my work is
comprised of loose and flowing paintings of pottery, cliff dwellings and
old barns as well as very detailed automotive renderings and paintings.
This is very fulfilling, as it lets me work in different modes. I feel
one benefits the other.
My detailed work always starts with several graphite drawings, and some
times I will include an ink rendering. I feel if I can illustrate an
object in black and white, and make it work, I will be successful when I
do the same thing in color. Once I do several drawings of an object, I
completely understand how it works and how it is constructed. Sometimes
the original renderings in ink or graphite turn out to be very
successful and I don’t take it any further.
My alternative type of work in
Oils & Pen & Ink - Graphite - Watercolor, landscapes etc., usually
start very loose and free with an idea in mind, but no real drawing or
detail laid out in advance. I may do several water color sketches to
obtain the look I want, but each one will be unique and somewhat
different.
My art and the ability to create have filled a personal void that some
people never get to experience. What a blessing to be able to do what
you love. My philosophy, and part of my statement is, “If you appreciate
my art, let me know. If you like my work, I want you to have it to
enjoy. It is not about the ‘sale’, it is about the art.”
With that in mind, I want to continue to proceed and expand and learn.
Hopefully, I can share this experience with the world and make it an
improved place.
